London’s tall buildings are often designed in isolation, with little thought of how they will affect the surrounding environment. Join us for an urban climate walking tour in City of London with Dr Julie Futcher as we look at how tall building designs can affect the urban climate.

Councillors Network

With mounting pressure to deliver London’s homes in our green suburban areas, we will discuss the ‘New Kind of Suburbia’ with award winning Metropolitan Workshop.  In collaboration with leading thinkers, including Max Wakefield from Powering Parks Project, we will look at the research undertaken on how best to manage growth in these areas.  After lunch we will look at how CIL can be invested in public spaces, with insight into ‘Planning for urban green space’ with Dr Meredith Whitten.

Design Review Network

Join us for a discussion on design review’s role in the GLA’s design led approach in managing densities, including how panels can offer support beyond planning applications. We will also hear from Ben van Bruggen, Manager at Auckland’s Urban Design Strategy Team on how their design review panel is managed abroad.
